Biography
Most Reverend Matthew Kwasi Gyamfi, DD, Ph.D is the Second Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Sunyani. He was born on August 11, 1957, at Wamanafo in the Bono Region of Ghana.
After his secondary education at St. Hubert Minor Seminary, he pursued priestly formation at St. Peter’s Regional Seminary, Pedu, and was ordained a priest on July 27, 1985.
Bishop Gyamfi holds a Bachelor of Arts (First Class) in Geography and History from the University of Ghana, as well as a PhD in Geography and a Master’s degree in Education from Canada. He has served as Vice Rector and Rector of St. James Seminary, and as Chancellor of the Diocese.
On April 14, 2003, Pope John Paul II appointed him Bishop of Sunyani, and he was ordained bishop on June 28, 2003.
