The Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Sunyani, Most Rev. Matthew Kwasi Gyamfi, has challenged parents to intensify their parenting roles to form people who will be balanced in all the dimensions of their lives.
He said this at the Mass to officially open the 2018 Annual Conference of the Catholic Women’s Association, in the Catholic Diocese of Sunyani, at Sacred Heart Parish, Sunyani.
In the homily, Bishop Matthew acknowledged the pivotal roles of parents so far the physical, intellectual and social growths of their children are concerned. He asserted that it is a great accomplishment but it is not enough when they are not complemented by spiritual and moral upbringing.
He urged parents to lead their children to Christ by also investing in their moral and spiritual upbringing. He added that when children are formed holistically, they will become assets to the society. Knowledge without morality is a great threat to the society.
He finally, pointed out that parenting is a responsibility entrusted to parents by God; hence, God will judge them based on how they have been responsible in their parental roles.
As part of the Synodal Recommendation, the Catholic Diocese of Sunyani has earmarked this year as the Year for Children.
