Most Rev. Most Rev. Matthew Kwasi Gyamfi, the Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Sunyani, has urged parents not to impede the efforts of their wards to come to Christ with scandalous words and deeds.
He stressed this at the Opening Address of the 2018 Annual Conference of the Catholic Women’s Association, in the Catholic Diocese of Sunyani, at Sacred Heart Parish, Sunyani.
Commenting on the theme for the Conference, Let the Children come to me (Lk . 18:16), Bishop Matthew said, parents are first point of socialization and so cautioned parents not to let their lives be a scandal to the little ones.
He therefore urged parents to use the Year for Children to learn and intensify their roles. Children are sure replacement of the elderly so they should not be taken for granted. In the liturgical setting, the Bishop, admonished that children should be acknowledged and be given special place in the Church. They should be directed, supported and encouraged.
The Conference was attended by about two thousand five hundred women from twenty one Parishes across the Diocese.
As part of the Synodal Recommendation, the Catholic Diocese of Sunyani has earmarked this year as the Year for Children.
